Martin Luther King, Jr. Born in Atlanta, Georgia (USA) a January 15, 1929 . was an American pastor of the Baptist church who developed a crucial role in U.S. the head of the Movement for civil rights for African Americans and also participated as an activist in numerous protests against the Vietnam War and poverty in general.


Luther King, civil rights activist from a young, organized and carried out various peaceful activities demanding the right voting, non-discrimination and other basic civil rights for black people in the United States. Among his most memorable are the Montgomery bus boycott in 1955, and the leadership of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, in 1963, at the end of which would deliver his famous speech "I Have a Dream" ( 'I have a dream'), whereby it would extend nationwide public awareness about the civil rights movement and consolidated as one of the greatest orators in American history.



Luther King is remembered as one of the greatest leaders and heroes of American history, and in the modern history of nonviolence. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 . Was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Jimmy Carter in 1977 and the Congressional Gold Medal of the United States in 2001. Since 1986, Martin Luther King Day is a holiday in the United States. On April 4, 1968 at 18 hours and one minute, Martin Luther King was assassinated by a white segregationist the balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis Tennessee.
