Peru's tenor Juan Diego Flórez was born in Lima on January 13, 1973. He is the son of singer / guitarist Rubén Flórez Peruvian folk music, accompanying the celebrated singer Chabuca Granda and Mary Teresa Salom.

He also studied with Marilyn Horne at the Santa Barbara Academy Summer School in California. In 1994, also Peruvian tenor, Ernesto Palacio, invited him to Italy, to participate in a recording of the opera by Vicente Martin y Soler, Il Burlat Guardian, and subsequently became Flórez's teacher and mentor.
The first great feeling and Flórez professional debut came with the Rossini Festival in Pesaro in 1996. At 23, originally was to participate in a minor role in Ricciardo e Zoraide and the chorus of others, but left the ranks of the chorus to make the replacement of the main tenor role of Corradino in Matilde Sabra, as the principal tenor, Bruce Ford, was ill. His presentation caused a sensation and then once again in similar circumstances, replacing Giuseppe Sabbatini. That same year he made his debut at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan as the Danish Cavaliere Armide by Christoph Willibald Gluck. On April 5, 2008 at 18:30 hours, Juan Diego Flórez was married to Julia Trappe in the Cathedral of Lima, Peru. Cardinal Juan Luis Cipriani, made the sacrament.
